Who doesn’t love magic tricks? Some believe magicians have real magical powers while are of the belief that it is just a smooth trick of the hand. Nonetheless, most of us are always down to be surprised by what’s going to happen next while watching a magic trick. But what if it wasn’t being done by a person but Google? Well, it’s not exactly a magic trick in this case, but definitely, some smart algorithms combined. And you don’t need access to the dark web or something to witness these tricks by Google, you can simply search for some words or phrases and Google will do its thang! Read on to find out some of these words and phrases.
1. Thanos
With the arrival of Avengers: Endgame, Google now has a pretty cool trick under its sleeve around it. All you have to do is type ‘Thanos’ in the search bar and then click on the little cartoon infinity gauntlet on the right side. As much as I’d love to tell you what happens next, it would be so much better if you see the results for yourself.
2. Google in 1998
If there’s something magical that I really want to experience, then it is time travelling. And searching ‘google in 1998’ does the same for you. It literally takes you back to how Google looked in the year 1998, pretty cool right?
3. Blink HTML
This one is simple yet so satisfying to watch. Just search ‘blink HTML’ and in the Google results page, you’ll see the words ‘blink’ and ‘HTML’ blinking. It weirdly reminds me of the simpler internet times somehow!
4. Askew
If the head spin is a little too much for you and makes you feel dizzy, then this cool Google search trick will serve you just the right amount of discomfort. If you search for ‘Askew’ on the search bar, the page will then tilt slightly. So if you’re someone who has OCD, then do this at your own risk.
5. Do A Barrel Roll
Type ‘Do a barrel roll’ on the google search bar and be ready for a major head spin. The search result page will literally do a ‘barrel roll’ by rolling 360 degrees once. Pretty cool when you’re in the mood to trick some friends, right?
6. Zerg rush
If you thought we only had tricks in this list, you’re mistaken. Searching ‘zerg rush’ on Google will start an attack by many tiny o’s that will eat up your search results, unless you kill them before it. I tried and failed miserably, see if you can finish ’em all!
7. Atari Breakout
This one is my absolute favourite Google trick of all time. If you’re in the mood to play some old school games and relive those precious childhood memories, look no further. Just search for ‘atari breakout’ and click on the image results tab. The images then morph into breakable bricks that you can destroy! I almost spent 25 minutes playing this today and I think I am going to go back for another round after finishing this blog, TBH. It’s addictive!
