Deepika Padukone After Voting

It is the time of General Elections in the country, and we saw a host of celebrities in Mumbai coming out to cast their vote. Actors, sportsmen, and media personalities, made their way to the voting booths. They urged their fans and followers to be responsible and vote as well. Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh also came out and cast their vote. By doing so, she shut down rumours about her inability to cast a vote and rights as an Indian citizen.

A few days ago, there were reports on the internet that it might be a problem for the Padmaavat actress to cast her vote considering she was born in Copenhagen, Denmark, and thus might also have a Danish citizenship. At a recent press conference, Deepika clarified the rumours stating she has an Indian passport. She mentioned there are complications in the matter, but she still is a proud citizen of the country, given she has spent almost all of her life in India.

The actress took to her social media to clear the air about her citizenship. In her caption, she hinted at the many reports that were speculating about her rights and requested everyone to not be confused about her nationality because she is very clear about being an Indian, and a proud one at that.

Here is her picture:

As Ranveer rightly commented on the post, “Attagirl!”. She has certainly set an example for others to get past all hurdles and still do the responsible thing. On the work front, Deepika is currently shooting for her next film, Chhapaak. We are looking forward to seeing her essay the role of an acid attack survivor.
