A saree is no longer just bound by the elegant traditional way of drape. Designers are now exploring ways to present the six yards of beauty in design structures never seen before. Contemporary drapes have been around for quite some time but now we’re seeing a new set of saree style that looks a lot like a gown fit for the red carpet.

The one celeb who is rocking this trend and making us want to invest in it is Kriti Sanon. For an engagement party, celebrity stylist Sukriti Grover selected this gorgeous new age saree designed by Monisha Jaising. The saree was more like a gown with the one shoulder style silhouette that was extended to become the pallu and the very evident pleats in the front made sure the saree flare is not lost. The teal ensemble had some beautiful embellishment and elegant design overall that made it statement-worthy too. That’s the very reason why Sukriti simply styled the saree with stellar chandbali earrings and ring from Azotiique and kolhapuris from Sukriti & Aakriti.

As a contrast to the outfit colour, celebrity makeup artist Shraddha Naik went for smoked out burgundy eyes which had more hints of brown and complemented it with a peachy blush and a lip tint. To keep the attention the outfit, celebrity hairstylist Florian Hurel styled her mane in a messy bun.

Here are a few things we learned from Kriti’s this look:

  • When the silhouette is unique, keep the colour story simple.
  • Let the outfit do all the talking and accessorise in a minimal fashion.
  • Complement your outfit with a contrasting, yet subtle beauty look.
