Everyone loved Radhika Apte and Ayushmann Khurrana‘s chemistry in AndhaDhun. And we definitely want to see them in more movies together. But turns out, they could have actually done a film together in the past. Radhika was shortlisted for Yami Gautam‘s role in Vicky Donor but lost the film because she was ‘overweight by a few kilos’.
Radhika and Ayushmann made an appearance together on BFFs With Vogue hosted by Neha Dhupia. And it was on the show that she revealed the reason behind not being finalised for the role.
She shared:
I had gone on a holiday for a month, so I drank a lot of beer and had loads of food. I told the makers that I would come back and lose them. But they did not want to take any chances.
Ayushmann, who made his debut as an actor with Vicky Donor, added that because he was skinny during the film, they took the decision to replace Radhika with Yami. Radhika also revealed that though losing the film didn’t affect her much, the weight thing messed with her head.
Vicky Donor was John Abraham‘s maiden production venture. Directed by Shoojit Sircar, the film released in 2012.
