Yoga should be the only time when you bend over backwards to achieve flawless skin. It may seem like a trend since the West started practising it recently but it has actually been around for ages. It’s a fact that yoga is beneficial for your mental and physical well-being, but did you also know that it’s great for your skin? Turns out all those sun salutations not only strengthen your body but they also increase your blood circulation which in turn gives your skin a better appearance. There are in fact quite a poses which will benefit your skin, here are 3 yoga poses that’ll help you get glowing skin:

1. Halasana – The Plow Pose

Since the lower half of your body will be inverted while practising this pose, it’ll increase the blood flow to your face. This pose will also improve your body’s digestive system, which is essential to achieve glowing skin. Here’s what you need to do, to practise this pose:

  • Lie down on your back with your palms facing down.
  • Raise your legs to a 90° and lift your hips off the floor.
  • Slowly lower your legs in front of your head till your toes reach the floor.
  • Make sure your back is perpendicular to the floor.
  • Hold this pose for a few seconds and then return to normal.

Note: Don’t attempt this pose if you’re pregnant or if you have a history of back issues.

2. Setu Bandhasana – The Bridge Pose

Don’t let this yoga pose fool you, it may look simple but it’s actually pretty challenging. Although nothing ever good comes without any effort amirite? This yoga pose will boost the blood circulation in your body and give you a healthy glow. Here’s how you can do it:

  • Lie down on your back with your palms facing downwards.
  • Fold your legs (they should be hip-width apart) and try to touch your heels.
  • Slowly raise your hips up high. Make sure that there’s no strain on your neck.
  • Hold this pose for a few seconds and then return to normal.

This pose is great to loosen up your muscles and rejuvenate them. It also helps regulate your digestive system and reduces stress and anxiety.

3. Adho Mukha Svanasana – The Downward Dog

This yoga pose is the easiest out of the lot. Even if you’ve never attended a single yoga class, you’ll be able to practise this pose with ease. This mild inversion will help improve the blood circulation in your face. Here’s how you can practise this pose:

  • Lie flat on your stomach on the mat.
  • Bring your palms near your ears and prop up your toes.
  • Slowly come into the plank pose.
  • Raise your hips upward, to form an inverted ‘V’.
  • Hold this pose for a few seconds and take deep breaths.
  • Release slowly and return to the first step.

This yoga pose is not only a great way to get glowing skin, but it’ll also help you release any stress or tension in your body.
