15 Outfits That're So Effortlessly Basic, You Wish You'd Have Thought Of Them Earlier

Natasha Patel , 06 Aug 2019

You know it and I know it—a well-constructed outfit not only makes you look good but it also makes you feel pretty damn great! Figuring out how to style fashion trends and incorporating them into the look can be a challenge, but the way I see it, your Instagram feed will have all the inspiration you need.

Personally, I’m in constant awe of women who effortlessly make their basic button-down shirt look so high-fashion and style them in a way one would never ever think of. Now that’s great street-style fashion! I’m not sure whether the key to pulling these looks off is styling the outfit proportionally (keeping in mind the trends) or wearing these looks with confidence… Nonetheless, I’ve rounded up 15 great outfit ideas for days where you just need to look and feel great—which should/could be everywhere, TBH!

1. When in doubt, add an oversized jacket.

2. Make it monotone by pairing similar colours together in different textures.

3. Also, pair contrasting colours to mix it up.

4. Bell-bottom pants make any outfit leaner and more classic.

5. When clashing prints, make sure the colours complement each other.

6. Accessorise a basic dress with some ’70s inspired pieces.

7. Create a statement but switching up the way you wear your shirt.

8. You can pair 2 oversized pieces as long as they’re structured and straight-fitted.

9. Double fold your pants for a baggy and a more relaxed look.

10. If you’re experimenting with culottes, opt for a fitted basic tee to really have the pants stand out.

11. Knotting an oversized white shirt is both understated and the best style hack.

12. You can ace the neon trend by mixing two colours together, but make sure you don’t over-accessorise.
