Parineeti Chopra has always been this bubbly and cheerful personality, with a smile that can brighten our day. A talented actress, she has wowed us all with her performances in films like Hasee Toh Phasee and Meri Pyaari Bindu among others. While we always get to see the fun and glamourous side to the lives of actors, we are hardly aware of their battles and struggles on the inside. Pari recently opened up about her periods of struggle when she was at an all-time low in her career and was battling depression.

In a conversation with Film Companion, the actress said that when two of her films – Daawat-e-Ishq and Kill Dil – didn’t work out, she experienced some financial strain and even had her heartbroken at the same time. The fact that it all happened at the same time looked like a dead end to her and ended up causing some serious mental stress for her. She used to be cooped up in her house for a long time, and hardly connected with her friends and family, and it was a bad time overall.

Here’s what she said:

I would cry maybe 10 times a day. I was always upset and crying. I had this chest pain that would not go out of my body. I have never felt depression, actual clinical depression. It happened to me in that year.

It is true that depression can happen to anyone, but it is how you get out of it that is important. Pari, being a strong woman, decided to take things in her own hands and get her life back together and worked on getting fitter (we all know how hot she looked in her amazing transformation pictures), signed some movies like Meri Pyaari Bindu and Golmaal Again, and got connected with her friends again after very long.

Talking about what she took from her journey during that phase, Parineeti seems to have one of the most inspiring and beautiful perspective on it.

Here’s what she said:

Today, if any kind of failure hits me, I am definitely prepared to handle it. Honestly, I thank God every day that this did not happen to me later. I am so glad it happened at 25 because that jhatka early can really fix you for life.

We are sure it’s only going to be successes from now on, and we wish you luck for Jabariya Jodi, Parineeti.

Jabariya Jodi, co-starring Sidharth Malhotra is all set to release on August 9th.
