One of the best Bollywood films to release in 2018 was the Ayushmann Khurrana, Radhika Apte and Tabu starrer AndhaDhun. The Sriram Raghavan directorial was a success, both, commercially and critically. The film also won the National Award in the Best Hindi Film and Best Adapted Screenplay categories. Not only that, Ayushmann too bagged the Best Actor National Award.

But the director recently revealed that big actors had turned down AndhaDhun. During a chat at the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne, Sriram shared that the actors couldn’t understand his vision.

He shared:

A lot of big actors said no to the film. They couldn’t understand how the movie would pan out. At the time, we didn’t have the complete script. And I was like, if they can’t understand it now, then it’s fine because they won’t suit the role.

Sriram had a number of names in mind for the lead role but never though of Ayushmann. In fact, the actor had himself approached the director and then auditioned for the role too. After the screen test, he got selected!

At the event, Sriram also recalled the journey of the film. “I remember the crazy journey all of us took. The film is good crazy and good mad. We experienced that first hand. We were literally living it, it was organic and it was a great journey,” he said.

Coming to Sriram Raghavan’s films, as per reports, he will soon be reuniting with his Badlapur actor, Varun Dhawan for a thriller.
