Fans of Sacred Games were waiting with bated breath for the second season of the show. Now that it is out, they cannot keep calm! While this is all everyone’s talking about, there was one guy who it really hit hard. A Kerala man from UAE complained that he has been getting incessant calls from all over the world asking if it was Sulaiman Isa from Sacred Games!
The reason why you ask? In one of the scenes in the first episode of the series, a number flashes on the screen claiming to be Sulaiman’s phone number, and audiences actually took the plunge and dialled the number to check! Turns out it was Kunhabdulla CM, a 37-year-old Keralite’s number, who works for a local oil company in UAE.
Speaking to Gulf News, the man said:
I have been getting incessant calls on my phone for the last three days from India, Pakistan, Nepal, the UAE and around the world. I don’t know what is happening. Hearing my phone ring sends shivers down my spine. I want to cancel my number. I want this problem to go away.
He even added that he didn’t know anything about a show called Sacred Games, and asked who Isa was!
What’s Sacred Games? A video game? I work from 8 am to 7pm. I don’t have time for such things. In the last one hour, I got five calls asking for someone called Isa…Who is Isa? I don’t have anything to do with him.
Damn, seems like he is clearly not amused by this super famous show that took the nation by storm. Post this fiasco, Netflix released a statement to Gulf News apologising for the inconvenience caused to the man.
Here’s their statement:
We apologise for any inconvenience caused. As soon as we were alerted to the situation, we resolved the issue and removed the phone number from the subtitles.
This legendary show really has a way to get to people, doesn’t it – in bad ways and good! But we can never ignore it!
