Ganesh Chaturthi is right around the corner. And each year, my family goes out of their way to decorate the house in a unique way. However, one part of the festivities that remains constant each time is the sweets we make at home—modaks, pedhas, basoondi, kheer, laddoos, et al.

This time though, I was looking for a change, and found myself combing through recipes online, and came across this recipe for coconut dry fruit laddoos by Foodhall India. Not only is this sweet dish healthy, it is also super duper easy to make. Which is perfect for the lazy foodie in me!

Read on to find out how you can make this quick festive dish for yourself too.

Cooking time: 20 minutes

Serves: 4

What you’ll need

1 cup sweetened condensed milk

250 gms grated paneer or freshly made chhena

1½ cup desiccated coconut

¼ cup desiccated coconut (for rolling)

1 tbsp ghee or butter

1/2 tsp crushed cardamom

1 tsp sugar

20gms chopped pistachios

20gms chopped almonds

20gms chopped walnuts

Here’s how you can put it all together

Step 1: Toast desiccated (dried, with the moisture removed) coconut for a minute. Then remove and keep it aside.

Step 2: Mash the paneer until it becomes smooth and creamy. Next, in a deep-bottomed pan, mix the paneer and sweetened condensed milk together. Proceed to cook on low heat while stirring constantly.

Step 3: Add in the toasted desiccated coconut, mix it and continue cooking it on low heat. Now add the cardamom powder and mix again.

Step 4: Cook it until the mixture thickens. And keep stirring continuously to keep the mixture from turning brown.

Step 5: Add toasted and chopped mixed nuts to this mixture and mix well. Transfer the mixture to a greased tray, and spread it evenly to cool it down.

Step 6: Make little balls (around 30gms each). Roll those over the desiccated coconut and chopped mixed nuts.

Voilá, your coconut dry fruit laddoos are ready!
