The 90s’ Bollywood movies list will totally be incomplete without the mention of Govinda and Karisma Kapoor films. So when the announcement of Coolie No. 1 was made, we were kinda excited especially because of the cast. Where Varun Dhawan will be reprising Govinda’s role, Sara Ali Khan will be playing Lolo’s role.
Sara recently spoke about stepping into Karisma’s shoes and also spoke about the film and how it is going to be difficult in an interview with PTI.
She said:
It is going to be difficult because the film, the songs and everything related to that film is iconic. So it is going to be very difficult. But if we take pressure, then we will definitely mess up. What makes Govinda ji and Karisma ji so iconic was an element of spontaneity and ‘bindasspan’ with every take, every shot. They had so much fun while shooting and that translates on screen. These are big shoes to fill.
The Kedarnath actress will also be a part of a 1995 song which was picturised on Karisma and is definitely looking forward to it. But she also knows the pressure as she’s ‘not a superb dancer’.
She shared:
If I think about the nervousness and not the excitement and privilege then I will definitely disappoint everyone. I am not taking too much stress about this at the moment.
Coolie No. 1 will be directed by David Dhawan and will be releasing in May 2020.
