Nushrat Bharucha has played several roles in her acting career spanning more than a decade. While most roles didn’t get her the attention she aimed for, the actress kept trying and ultimately got her due recognition after Pyaar Ka Punchnama and Pyaar Ka Punchnama 2.
Nushrat, who belongs to Dawoodi Bohra community, made her debut in Jai Santoshi Maa (2006) and was thereafter seen in Kal Kisne Dekha, Love Sex Aur Dekha and a few other roles in forgettable films. Her career took flight after Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety and now she has Dream Girl opposite Ayushmann Khurrana and Turram Khan with Rajkummar Rao.
However, reaching here wasn’t easy as the actress went through several rejections. Reportedly, she auditioned for a role in Slumdog Millionaire but was dropped in the end as she didn’t fit the part. Apart from that, did you know that she also auditioned for a role in Karan Johar‘s Student Of The Year?!
A report in Mid-Day quoted her saying:
I remember auditioning for Student Of The Year in front of Karan Johar. It was back then that I performed in front of him.
Nushrat clearly didn’t land that role. But hey, whatever happens, happens for a reason! Destiny had other plans for her and we wish her loads of success for her upcoming projects.
