I have a question for all those morning people who have ticked at least seven things off their to-do list before it’s even 9 AM—how? If you’re a night owl like I am, you must be well acquainted with the phrase “just one more episode, then it’s time for bed”. However, that one episode turns into eight and my under eyes look less like a human’s and more like a panda’s. It’s easy to just make delusive promises like going to bed early, but sticking to your word is where the problem comes in. This nasty habit traps us in sleep debt and takes a massive toll on our skin (especially our under-eye area). Fixing this bad habit may take some discipline and efforts. However, fixing the skin issues caused by this problem may be a little easier. I promise you, you won’t even have to spend a small fortune to fix dark circles and puffy eyes. All you need is a few things from your pantry and you’re good to go. Here’s what you need to do make these DIY eye patches:

What You’ll Need:

  • 1/2 cup of green tea.
  • 1/2 cup of cucumber juice.
  • 10-12 round cotton pads.
  • 1 ziplock bag.

How To Make Them:

  • To make these DIY eye patches, you have to start by preparing your liquids first.
  • Firstly, brew a cup of green tea. You can use a tea bag or tea leaves.
  • Juice one cucumber and strain the fibre.
  • Once the green tea has cooled down, mix the required quantity with the cucumber juice.
  • Next, take your round cotton pads and cut them in half.
  • Pour the liquid mixture into a ziplock bag and dunk the cotton pads in.
  • Place the bag in your fridge overnight and the next day you’ll have ready to use eye patches that’ll instantly brighten and de-puff your under eyes.

Why They Work:

It’s no surprise that these two ingredients are yet in another skincare recipe, amirite? Since both these ingredients are packed with nutrients that your skin loves and craves, they’ll work wonders when it comes to fixing the appearance of your under eyes.

  • Green Tea: Since green tea is full of anti-oxidants it helps brighten the skin underneath your eyes, making it look revitalised and fresh.
  • Cucumber Juice: Turns out placing cucumbers on your eyes during facials actually has a purpose. Cucumbers are full of vitamin C and folic acid and they have the ability to moisturise your skin. Hence, cucumber juice will help hydrate, de-puff and ‘awaken’ your under-eye area.

How To Use Them:

After you’ve followed all the steps and refrigerated them overnight, take two halves of the cotton pads, place them under your eyes and let them sit for about 10-15 minutes. Since they’re made with all-natural ingredients, you can use them every day.
