The entire Bollywood fraternity celebrated Diwali with love, light and enthusiasm this weekend. We spotted many of them out and about for the glitzy parties while others enjoyed the festival at home with their family. A lot of celebrities also took to social media to wish their fans and well wishers a happy and prosperous Diwali.

Shah Rukh Khan, for instance, posted this picture with Gauri Khan and AbRam Khan:

Some people, however, don’t believe in spreading happiness even on festivals as poor SRK got trolled for wearing a tilak on his forehead. The narrow-minded religious section of the virtual world called the actor a ‘false muslim’ as he chose to support Hindu traditions.

Earlier too, Islamists accused him of breaking their traditional values when he celebrated Ganesha Chaturthi. Appalled at the religious divide occurring in the name of a festival, Shabana Azmi stepped in to support SRK against the trolls. She rightly called them out for making a big deal out of a Diwali greeting and further said that Islam is strong enough to not be threatened by a beautiful Indian custom.

Well said, Shabana ji. Celebrating festivals of other religions doesn’t make any of us less religious. It’s a choice one makes, which should be respected by everyone.
