I think this is one statement that everyone can agree on—carbs solve everything! A big bowl of freshly steamed rice is not good for those hunger pangs but it turns out that it’s also good for your skin. When you consume rice (particularly brown rice), you get a good dose of B vitamins, antioxidants and minerals which are great for your skin. The benefits don’t just end here. When you apply rice water topically it can do wonders. I initially had a hard time believing that this grain has any kind of skincare benefits, however, that was until I had a look at these impressive benefits:

  • Rice water has been used as a skin toner for ages in China since helps tighten your skin and shrinks pores.
  • It contains a number of vitamins and minerals that nourish your skin.
  • It contains Ferulic acid, which helps brighten your skin by fading pigmentation.
  • Since rice water also has anti-inflammatory properties, it helps soothe acne and sunburn.

So if you want to try out rice water on your skin all you have to do is let some clean unpolished rice soak in water overnight. The next morning, strain the mixture and store the water in the refrigerator. You can use this mixture as a toner after washing your face. However, if you’re not a DIY person, here are some rice-based products you should try out:
