Rani Mukherji is back as the fearless cop, Shivani Shivaji Roy in Mardaani 2 and this time she is determined to catch a psycho-killer running loose. The film is all set to release on December 13 but is facing trouble in the city where the story is based i.e Kota.
The trailer shows a serial rapist and murderer who targets young girls of the city and the makers claim that the story is inspired from true events. Protestants are objecting that such a criminal never existed in the name of their city is being maligned.
A local corporator, Gopal Manda has reportedly sent a legal notice to Censor Board chairperson Prasoon Joshi, the film’s producer Aditya Chopra, director Gopi Puthran as well as the Information & Broadcasting ministry, appealing them to remove the name of the city from the film.
Kota is known for its academics and hundreds of students visit there for various competitive exams. The complainants are worried that its portrayal in the film might ruin the city’s reputation.
