As the weather temperature keeps dropping, so does the moisture level of our skin. Wintertime may mean sweater weather and copious amounts of hot chocolate; however, this season tends to take a toll on our skin. While our trusty heavy-duty moisturisers and body-butters are there to soothe dry and itchy skin, our skin will still stay dry and textured unless we gently exfoliate it. As someone with combination skin, some parts of my body get dry as a bone during the winters. My skin tends to flake and turns ashy and ain’t nobody got time for that! That’s why I use this trusty DIY oatmeal body scrub to exfoliate my skin:

What You’ll Need:

  • One cup of oat flour.
  • Three tbsp of honey.
  • Two tbsp of brown sugar.

Why It Works:

My skin feels instantly feels soft and supple after using this scrub. That’s because the ingredients of this scrub are super nourishing for the skin.

  • Oat flour: Oats are a natural humectant and that’s why it’ll help keep your skin moisturised. Also, it’s slightly coarse texture helps gently exfoliate your skin, making it perfect to use for people with sensitive skin.
  • Honey: Honey has been used for centuries across all cultures to soothe and heal the skin. That’s why including honey (which is also a humectant) in this scrub will help moisturise and nourish your skin.
  • Brown sugar: The texture of brown sugar will help gently slough off all the dead skin cells and keep your skin smooth.

How To Use It:

The best time to use this DIY oatmeal body scrub is after you’re done with cleansing in the shower. The steam of the shower will open up your pores which will allow the scrub to work better. So after you’re done showering take some of this mixture into your hands and get scrubbin’.
