While netizens were excited for the Kartik Aaryan, Bhumi Pednekar and Ananya Panday starrer Pati, Patni Aur Woh, the trailer of the film received a lot of flack due to an insensitive marital rape joke.

The trailer and the makers of the film had come under a lot of criticism regarding the same and it has finally been taken out of the trailer and the film. Now Kartik Aaryan finally addressed the issue and cleared that it was not their intention to hurt anyone.

He elaborated further on the debacle and the measures taken to rectify it and said:

When the trailer came, we realised that we shouldn’t hurt anyone and should remove it immediately. Usually, this doesn’t happen in films. We took responsibility because it might have come across as something that wasn’t our intention. We realised we shouldn’t use that word at all so we have rectified it and made changes because we don’t want to hurt people’s sentiments.

He also said that the line got highlighted in the trailer and no one from the team realized how it could have been interpreted.

He further added:

We didn’t realise it when we were doing it. We had shown it to a lot of people, but no one had pointed it out. We didn’t want to hurt anyone’s sentiments. This isn’t the topic of our film nor was this our intention.

The film is a modern adaptation of the 1987 drama by BR Chopra of the same name. The film will release on 6th December 2019.
