Deepika Padukone is returning to the big screens after a gap of almost two years with Meghna Gulzar‘s Chhapaak. The actress plays Malti, an acid attack survivor in the film which is based on the true life events of Laxmi Agarwal, who is now a TV show host and a campaigner with Stop Acid Attacks.
DP underwent a massive transformation for the film and did not sign any major role while filming it. After watching the trailer, which released today, we are certain that the actress’ decision to abstain from signing other films was worth it.
The sheer intensity with which Deepika plays Malti is commendable and we definitely understand why she calls it “the most precious film of her career”. And of course, how can we not mention our most favourite actor, Vikrant Massey, who makes our hearts happy merely by his screen presence.
Chhapaak will be Padukone’s first film after her wedding to Ranveer Singh last year. Apart from acting, she is also co-producing it with Fox Star Studios. It’s slated to release on January 10, 2020.
