I don’t know about you, but whenever anyone mentions Nina Dobrev, I immediately think of the iconic character she played in Vampire Diaries—Elena Gilbert (and um, Katherine). Watching a few episodes of Vampire Diaries was my jam back when I was in high school (we all know that watching “a few episodes” means watching a season in a week). Apart from the cheesy romantic storyline and Damon‘s devastatingly good looks, what I loved about the show were Nina’s beauty looks. IMHO, I think she was the one who started the sleek hair paired with a middle parting trend. That’s why I was ecstatic when I saw Vogue‘s latest video that featured Dobrev. From naming her pimples to using saliva to fix mascara mistakes, we get to learn a lot about Nina’s beauty routine. Here are four key takeaways from Nina’s day-to-night routine that you need to know:
1. Customise Your Skincare:
One common denominator for all the steps in Nina’s skincare routine was that she customised the products according to her skincare needs. She started by cleansing her skin to prep it for the following product applications. After that, for every step, she made a little concoction of multiple products that addressed various skin concerns. For example, she mixed a few drops of a calming serum along with a hyaluronic serum so that she could treat her rosacea spots while simultaneously hydrating her skin. Talk about killing two birds with one stone, amirite?

2. Prioritise Lymphatic Drainage:
In this video, Nina mentions that she loves using facial massage tools for lymphatic drainage. She then proceeds to use a gua sha stone to de-puff and massage her skin.
3. Don’t Forget Your Neck
We always tend to hear to not skip the neck area while doing your skincare and makeup routine, but how many of us actually abide by that rule? Nina does! While applying her foundation, she first applies it to her neck so that it’ll match the colour of her face later on.
4. When In Doubt, Go With Red
Nina ends the video by finishing off her makeup look with a bold red lip since it’s classic and perfect to wear for a night out.
