Neena Gupta has never failed to surprise us when it comes to her parts and characters in her films – however small or big they may be. She has always been passionate about her craft and has a true voice of her own – be it in her films or her social media! So whenever we hear she is going to star in a new film, we look forward to seeing her work.

As for her upcoming films, we heard was that she is all set to play Akshay Kumar‘s mother in Rohit Shetty‘s cop drama – Sooryavanshi. But now, according to a report in Mid-Day, we hear that Neena Ji has stepped down from the project as her role as the makers realised they wouldn’t be able to etch out a role for her in the narrative of the film.

The source said:

After filming with her for few days, the makers realized that her track was not fitting seamlessly into the larger narrative. The story revolves around Akshay and Katrina’s characters, with the former essaying the role of a brave cop. When it was conveyed to Neenaji that her part wouldn’t be etched out as well as they had hoped, she understood the dilemma and bowed out of the film.

Now this is unfortunate! Being the gracious and understanding person she is, she sure did handle the situation. The source even added that she asked Rohit to cast her in his next film for sure, as compensation.

On the work front, Neena Ji has Panga with Kangana Ranaut and Richa Chaddha and Shubh Mnagal Zyaada Savdhaan alongside Ayushmann Khurrana and Gajraj Rao.
