5 Fun Makeup Trends You Should Experiment With In 2020

Eesha Kokane

Don’t you love the innate inspiration that kicks in at the beginning of the new year? I don’t know about you, but I feel more adventurous, motivated and creative as the year begins. Be it waking up at the crack of dawn to go to the gym or getting your sh*t together and finally decluttering your room, start your year by doing something new! While we’re on the note of new experiences, one thing I’m going to try out this year is experimenting more with my makeup. I’ve been in a beauty-rut because I tend to do the same makeup looks over and over (Yes, I’m talking about you, winged eyeliner).  So, I’ve decided I’m going to try something new and experiment with these makeup trends in 2020 (and you should too!):

1. Pastel Eyeliners

Pastel colours were a big hit in 2019, and they’re not going anywhere anytime soon. It may be difficult and unrealistic to pull off baby blue eyeshadow every day, that’s why a subtle way to include pastel colours in your makeup is through eyeliners. Swap your go-to black eyeliner with some fun pastel colours in 2020.

2. Metallic Eyeshadow

Have you ever bought an eyeshadow palette with multiple colours but only ended up using three? Guilty! In 2020, be bold and try out those colours you’ve actually been wanting to. Metallic eyeshadow is going to be major in 2020, so if you want to try something different, then this is it!

3. Colourful Mascaras

I’ve always wanted to try out bright mascaras but I tend to stick to my usual black mascara, unfortunately. However, this year I’m going to try using colourful mascaras, I’m particularly excited to use a shade of blue on my eyelashes. (I mean, it is the Pantone colour of the year after all).

4. Graphic Eyeliner

Graphic eyeliner is the chic and edgy version of the classic winged eyeliner. If you want a fun twist on your usual makeup look, then try graphic eyeliner.

5. Barely-There Lip Stain

As much as I love a good bold red lip, I’m glad lip stain is going to trend in 2020. The ‘barely-there’ lip stain looks flattering on all skin-tones and it’s perfect to wear every day.

Which one of these 2020 makeup trends are you excited to try out next? Let me know in the comments below.
