Deepika Padukone as we know is a trendsetter at large, from her cool, casual looks to her major glam moments, I have to say this look is hands-down one of her more memorable ones. A saree has been a long favourite among the Bollywood ladies and the styling stays fresh and effervescent each time. Shaleena Nathani styled DP in a sparkly, sequined, electric blue saree by Sabyasachi for the premiere of Chhapaak last night. A saree is elegant and there is a certain charm and poise one channels in it and Deepika is a vision in this number. ( a very sparkly vision).

Makeup artist, Sandhya Shekar accentuated Deepika’s look with a smokey eye, nude lip and a gorgeous cheek highlight, but what hit my sweet spot was her almost-wet, slick, tousled hair. Subtle earrings with statement bling bangles and a flower motif ring finished out her look for the night.

Let’s not forget Laxmi Agarwal, the acid attack victim who the movie is based on—celebrating her courage and dignity in the face of terror. Shaleena styled her in a more traditional Sabyasachi silk Banarasi saree with a jadau choker. What is a Banarasi saree you ask? A Banarasi saree comes from Varanasi, a city in Banaras—it is finely woven silk with gold and silver brocade or zari and mainly engraved with intricate floral motifs (Mughal-inspired). These sarees can take as few as 15 days to as long as 6 months to complete and are traditionally part of an Indian bride’s trousseau.
