It might be the year 2020, but it’s astonishing how ignorant and insensitive people still are about things. Take the issue of LGBT+. How many Indians do you think understand and accept people of the LGBT+ community? Still very few. In such times to have a movie about the subject is ground-breaking, to say the least. Ayushmann Khurrana turns the torchbearer for another movie on an important social issue that people NEED to be aware of. Shubh Mangal Zyaada Savdhaan is the first mainstream Bollywood movie to take up the topic of homosexuality. No Dostana doesn’t count.

From the trailer, it’s clear that it’s an out and out entertainer that is clear in its message and addresses the issue of homophobia among Indian parents.
But it’s not the greatness of the trailer I wanted to discuss today, but how Ayushmann and his wife Tahira Kashyap are instilling the values that his movies showcase into his children. Last night, Tahira tweeted out saying that in the light of her husband and his father’s movie coming out she thought she’d ask her son about homosexuality. Her son, Virajveer Khurrana‘s answer will make you laud his upbringing.

Take a look at what he had to say:

It’s true what they say. Education begins at home. It’s heartening to see that the upcoming generations will grow up more aware and will be more accepting in general.

All the love to Tahira, Ayushmann and their little ones. And I can’t wait for the release of SMZS. Watch out for it in theatres on 21st February 2020.
