Acne Skincare Products

I think we can all agree on one thing—acne is satan in the form of small red bumps. It drains you mentally, financially and emotionally. It can be super confusing to create a skincare routine for acne, especially because there’s a plethora of products on the market and also a ton of contradicting advice out there. As someone who has dealt with acne for more than a decade, I can say that whenever I’ve kept my skincare routine to the minimum, my skin has looked better. The trick is to concentrate on the quality of the products, instead of the quantity. So without any further ado, here are three acne-banishing products you should try out:

1. Simple Water Boost Micellar Facial Gel

This product on its own won’t get rid of your acne, but it’s a great start for your skincare routine. When you have acne, you should use a cleanser that will gently clean your skin instead of a cleanser that will strip off the natural oils of your skin. When you use a harsh cleanser that makes your skin “squeaky clean” (AKA that tight and dry feeling), you’re tricking your skin into producing more oil, hence, it will cause more acne. So stick to a gentle fragrance-free cleanser like this one.

2. Paula’s Choice 2% BHA Liquid Exfoliant

Anybody who knows me will know that I am a sucker for a good chemical exfoliant. Exfoliation plays a huge role in the journey to get rid of acne. If you have dead skin cells clogging up your pores, it may lead to more breakouts. That’s why you should prioritise exfoliation. While there are many face scrubs out there, I’d suggest you stay away from them. They will irritate your skin and cause abrasions. So use a chemical exfoliant like this product. It contains salicylic acid (which is a BHA) which will clean your pores and gently exfoliate your skin. With regular exfoliation, you can even get rid of blemishes caused by acne and even out your skin tone over time.

3. The Body Shop Aloe Soothing Day Cream

When it comes to moisturisation, look for ingredients that will soothe your inflamed skin. This aloe vera infused cream is formulated without any fragrance so it won’t irritate your skin. Plus it’s super cooling and hydrating. That’s why your skin will thank you for using it.
