When music is something that fuels your mind and soul, it is bound to take you places. And that is what singer Akhil Sachdeva truly believes in! From founding and the first-of-it’s-kind Delhi-based Sufi rock band, Nasha to getting a break in a Dharma Productions film, Akhil’s journey has been nothing short of filmy. Now, he has some soulful renditions like Tera Ban Jaunga from Kabir Singh and Channa Ve from Bhoot to his credit, along with many more on the way.

About that one break that changed his life, Akhil says that it was one of the most surreal moments when Shashank Khaitan heard him sing Humsafar at their common friend Huma Qureshi‘s dinner party and approached him with an offer.

Akhil says:

I remember Shashank walked upto me and he told me he is making Badrinath Ki Dulhaniya in two-three years. He said he didn’t have a script, but that it is a Dharma film starring Varun Dhawan and Alia Bhatt and asked, ‘Are you ready to give me Humsafar?’. Varun and Alia also heard the song then and Alia told me that whenever the film releases, she wants to do a cover version of the same. And she did! When the film came out in 2017, it felt like a dream come true listening to my song in there.

Now, this sounds like every singer’s dream, right?

When you look at his career graph in Bollywood, it’s all originals that he has himself composed, written and sung. Ask him about how the idea of remixes is big in the music industry at the moment, and what he thinks of it and he says it’s all about the balance.

Firstly, in the industry, there has to be a fine balance between remixes and originals. And I think Kabir Singh was one such album with all originals last year. So I am drawn towards creating my original music and I am happy that I could make a mark in just a few years in the industry.

The digital space is also something that Akhil is exploring and is lending his musical expertise to a lot of web series. From ALT Balaji’s Broken But Beautiful to their latest release, It happened In Calcutta, he has given these series some rather beautiful melodies that are no less than full fledged Bollywood songs!

Well, we sure can’t wait to hear more from this gifted musician. Keep the amamzing music coming, Akhil!
