2018 was one of the most important years for the Indian cinema and more so for Kiara Advani. While she was already a part of the films on the 70mm, her Netflix outing, Lust Stories managed to grab a lot of attention. Her acting chops were every bit brilliant in it, and Kiara made it a point to shine in this Karan Johar’s directorial. While people were still going gaga about her, she starred opposite Shahid Kapoor in Kabir Singh. There might have many discussions about the morals of the film, but Kiara shinned bright yet again. Ever since then, there has been no stopping for this talent house.

She has become internet’s Preethi (her character from Kabir Singh) and even today whatever she does off-reel, comments and memes on Preethi follow her everywhere. To add to that is her strong bonding with KJo. Last year she starred in Dharma Productions Good Newwz which again did exceptionally well at the ticket windows. Her loud character Monica instantly became loveable and now with everything she does, she makes sure that she gets noticed.

Ask her how important is Karan’s role in her career and she says,

He gave birth to the actor that people see in me. You as an actor can be really good but if you do not get the right opportunities, nobody will ever know you. I thank him for giving me an opportunity in his film, Lust Stories which he directed himself. I feel lucky that he could direct me because it’s a dream for any actor. And I think that’s where he saw my potential of being an actor and he offered me good roles in Shershah and Guilty. Shershah is set in the ’90s, Guilty has a different character for me. He is someone who I hold very close to my heart and I always call him up for the littlest of advice. He is always there for me. I think it’s a relationship that is beyond the work that we do and the respect that I have for him will always be there.

It’s like Main phir news main aagayi! It was fab. And then when the memes interlinked like the Shahid and Dabboo. It just doesn’t get over. Like Preeti Bhabhi ko kya hogaya? Preeti tu badal gayi.

Her recent release Guilty is doing exceptionally well on Netflix and I cannot wait for her future Bollywood outings.
