All major productions have shut down shoots for films in the light of the recent coronavirus outbreak. Many more films such as Sooryavanshi and Sandeep Aur Pinky Faraar that were to release towards the end of this month have also postponed their release date indefinitely so people can come to the theatre and watch the same without any fear of contracting Covid-19.
There are 2 other films that released on time but are bearing the brunt of Covid-19 – Baagi 3 and Angrezi Medium. While Baaghi 3 released on the 6th of March and saw a great first week, the second week saw a huge dip due to the increasing number of coronavirus outbreaks in India. Angrezi Medium that went ahead with its original release date on 13th March, took the hardest hit at the theatres. Now makers are discussing re-releasing these two films once things go back to normal. Angrezi Medium‘s producer Dinesh Vijan has already announced that the film will be re-released once the epidemic normalizes. With Baaghi 3, the situation is a little tricky.
According to Bollywood Hungama, director Ahmed Khan is of the opinion that they made a mistake releasing Baaghi 3 in spite of the virus threat. But he has left the final decision to Sajid Nadiadwala and Fox Star to re-release the movie.
A source close to the development also said that while Ahmed Khan and Sajid Nadiadwala were in favour of re-releasing the movie, Fox wasn’t so sure because it would take huge amounts for marketing and publicity again.
While Angrezi Medium is sure to re-release, we will have to wait and see if Baaghi 3 will be in theatres again.
