12 Activities That’ll Cheer You Up During Social Distancing

Covid-19, AKA coronavirus seems to be all that’s on everyone’s mind right now. The hashtags #CancelEverything and #SelfQuarantine are trending on all social media platforms, and people have mixed feeling about this. As an introvert, I feel like I’ve been preparing for social distancing my whole life. However, my extroverted friends are having a hard time dealing with social distancing. If you’re also an extrovert and you’re trying to keep your sanity, then here are some fun activities you can do at home while you practise social distancing:

1. Follow A Painting Tutorial

The last time I held a paintbrush was probably in eighth grade. However, ever since we’ve been warned to stay quarantined, I’ve started painting again to calm my nerves, and I have to say it’s a great activity to do to pass the time. If you’re clueless about what to paint, then I suggest you follow an online tutorial. My favourite art channel on YouTube is Bob Ross‘s channel. Even if you’re not into art, you’ll still enjoy these videos.

2. Have A Netflix Watch Party

Thanks to Netflix, now you can watch a movie with your friends from the comfort of your own home. This activity is a saviour during social distancing. Find out how you can host a watch party over here.

3. Learn A New Language

Make the most out of social distancing and add a new skill to your resume. You can use apps like Duo Lingo and Busuu to learn any kind of language you want. I just started learning Turkish, and all I can say is hayat güzel.

4. Bake Something Yummy

I’ve always wanted to learn how to bake, but I’d always make excuses like “Who has the time?”. Well, guess what, we all have the time now, and baking yummy treats is a great activity to do during social distancing. There are a ton of recipes online, look for what you’re in the mood of, and get baking!

5. Go On A Virtual Museum Tour

Many brands and organisations are taking steps to make your social distancing experience better. Thanks to the power of technology and the internet, you can now take virtual tours at museums. You can tour the Guggenheim online over here.

6. Declutter Your House

We’ve got no excuse now folks; we have to declutter our homes now. Make the most out of this self-isolation experience, be super productive and Marie Kondo your home. Your future self will thank you for it.

7. Binge Watch Your Favourite Show

Not that you needed any excuse to rewatch your favourite show but now’s the time to do it. Stay at home, cuddle up in a blanket, grab a bowl of popcorn and watch your favourite TV show.

8. Catch Up On Reading

I have this terrible habit of buying books even though I have a tall stack of unread books on my nightstand. That’s why I took this opportunity to catch up on my reading. You should try doing the same!

9. Have An At-Home Spa Day

As tempting as a relaxing day at the spa sounds, it’s our responsibility to stay indoors. However, that doesn’t mean that you can’t have a spa day at home. So grab your face masks and herbal teas and have yourself a fun at-home spa day.

10. Try Online Workouts

The hour that I used to spend at the gym was my “me time”, and I miss it. But thanks to online workouts, I still get to work out every day.

11. Solve A Puzzle

This classic activity is so fun to do whether you’re alone or with your family. So bring out those old puzzles and have a little game night!

12. Spend Quality Time With Your Family

Last but not least, you can take this opportunity to stay at home and spend some much-needed quality time with your family. You’ll be grateful in the future when you get back to your normal life that you got to spend some time with your fam.
