With the neon trend hitting us in full swing, pastel hues have taken a backseat. However, the light and soothing colours, are making a comeback in the form of pastel pantsuits. Shakers and movers of the fashion world are taking pastels out of pretty dresses, and putting it into powerful pantsuits. The notion that pantsuits belong to the board room is passé. With the fashion crowd bringing these structured looks to the forefront at fashion weeks and red carpet events, a pantsuit is now a wardrobe staple.

Over the years, pantsuits have gotten less crisp and fitted and more slouchy to give it that fashion-forward oversized appeal. Whether it is well-tailored sharp pantsuits to conquer those meetings, or a long line blazer, with wide-legged trousers, for brunch with the girls, there is something for everyone. Not only the silhouette but pantsuits have now binned their classic navy, black and brown hues. This summer, pantsuits come in more sweet tones, like pastel pink, pistachio green, lavender, baby blue, and buttercup yellow.

Here’s a peek at our favourite celebrities giving the pastel pantsuit trend their own twist:

#1. Ileana D’cruz‘ pastel pink pantsuit

For a recent round of promotions, Ileana D’cruz wore a blush pink longline jacket and pant set. She wore a blazer by Khanjio and pants by Ayesha Depala, along with a braided bikini top on the inside. To give your powerful pantsuit a sexier and bolder look, pair it with bustiers, bralettes and bikini tops. Alternately, you could also hop onto the corsets trend, with your pantsuits. Pair your oversize blazer with a sexy sheer corset tucked into the trousers, and you are ready for a night out!

#2. Sara Ali Khan in a sorbet pantsuit

Sara went for a more sorbet hue with her Appapop pantsuit. The look included a pair of tailored pants, with a cropped blazer. The cropped blazer and matching belt helped the pantsuit stand out and break the monotone-monotony. She added a hint of pastel via her eyewear too, with mint green cat-eye sunglasses.  The cropped hem of the pantsuit was quite a refreshing break from longline and oversized blazers.

#3. Karisma Kapoor’s slouchy pantsuit

Karisma wore a slouchy, icy, summer-friendly pantsuit by Edeline Lee. Her #OOTD included a pair of trousers and a matching longline blazer, along with a white bodysuit and PVC Heels. Two trends she played within this look were longline belts and barrettes. Given the slouchy form of this outfit, the longline belt went perfectly well with it. The barrettes in her hair added a playful vibe to the pastel pantsuit.

#4. Ananya Panday‘s cropped trouser look

From Kim Kardashian to Deepika Padukone, our favourite fashionistas are obsessed with the biker shorts and bermuda shorts trend. Ananya Pandey gave bermuda shorts a more polished twist. The young actress picked a pair of cropped shorts style trousers, in her pantsuit. On the inside, she wore an olive bustier. Ananya added a pop of colour to the look with her orange tie-up heels. She wore the blazer slung over the shoulder, like a cape which made her outfit modish and stylised.

#5. Virat Kohli‘s Pink Pantsuit

Proving that the pastel pantsuit trend is not just for women, Virat wore a sorbet pink pantsuit, with a pastel blue t-shirt on the inside for an ad campaign. Whoever, still thinks men cannot wear pink, needs to take a cue from the skipper! We love how he did a pastel on pastel look, and keeping the entire outfit in a light colour palette he finished the look with white sneakers.

#6. Kriti Sanon‘s printed pantsuit

Moving away from solid pantsuits, Kriti picked a printed pastel number by Diya Rajvvir. She wore a sharp, statement pantsuit, that featured big and bold rose motifs. Kriti wore the look with a co-ordinated obi-belt, to cinch her waist. I love how she kept the styling minimal, including her hair and makeup and let her outfit be the highlight.

So this summer, refresh your work look and make a statement in a chic pastel pantsuit.
