Looks like this summer is going to be a long, scorching battle. One of the best and most exciting things about fashion is that there are endless possibilities. A good rule of thumb to live by is to wear what makes you feel confident and comfortable, while not being afraid to step out of your comfort zone. We have taken a look at some designers collections to get inspired this summer. You certainly do not need a beach body or a bulky bank balance to pull off a stylish look. All you need is to include these pointers and turn your summer look around from drab to fab!

Here are a few pointers from your favourite designers to help you make a splash this summer:

1. Pull out your summer scarves

Just one craftily tied scarf in an interesting print like the ones from Shivan and Naresh’s collection can turn a simple outfit into a really stylish look. It can take on many guises, whatever your mood—a great statement for bad hair days or a stylish way to lift your basic t-shirt. From tying it into your ponytail, a hair bow, a French knot around the neck to a twist on a belt, there are many other creative ways to style it. My favourite is the hairband look where I can have a hassle-free hair day with my hair pulled back just as it’s been portrayed in the House of Masaba’s new summer campaign where they played around with their printed scarves in various interesting ways.

2. Interesting button-down shirt style

Shirts are in fashion big time this summer in various styles like the retro printed shirt and shirts with exaggerated sleeves. Shirts are also being styled in many different ways from tucking it half in and half out of your skirts and pants to just buttoning your collar button and wearing it over a slip dress just like in the image below.

3. Cuff your pants

Make your ensembles interesting by cuffing your straight or pegged pants. Fold it about half an inch and roll them twice. This is a perfect way to show off your stunning footwear. The key tip to keep in mind is to avoid skinny jeans or as a matter of fact, any kind of denim as it sticks to your body. Take a cue from Label Sashe on how they have cuffed this interesting pair of pants to make it look even more stylish.

4. Accessorise

Summer is arguably the best season for accessories. Wear your sporty caps with a chic dress for a brunch or layer neckpieces on plunging tops or gowns for a night out. The broad corset belts have made a comeback this season. They can be worn over shirts or jumpsuits to repurpose the outfit and enhance your curves. You will be surprised by how much of a difference it makes.
After months of vibrant, moody colours, this summer, there is a shift towards ice-cream inspired tones. Pastels are a classic summer trend, but this year it’s specifically ice cream colours. Light clothing bounces that heat right off, and you’ll be more comfortable on a hot day. Here you can glam up your outfits by experimenting bright and vibrant accessories like colourful hoops, chains, clutches or quirky heels like these ones from Papa don’t Preach by Shubhika.

5. Mix prints like a pro

What we don’t realise is that are so many variations to mix and match your printed garments you already have in your wardrobe; it is impossible to get bored! Simplest places to start is to mix prints with different scales. Break up the look with solids and incorporate different prints. Textured fabrics count as a print. Prints like tropical, chic ’70s-era wallpaper print, psychedelic florals, pinstripes are dominating this season. Take a Cue from Dhruv Kapoor’s Spring Summer’20 collection.
