Priyanka Chopra Jonas has been a part of some rather iconic Bollywood films and songs over the span of her career. Throwing back to one such iconic song, Tinka Tinka from her 2005 film Karam, PC shared how some people thought she had sung the song.
When it comes to Bollywood songs, it’s all about how convincingly you lip-sync to the lyrics and make the song your own, and Priyanka is a pro at it! So naturally, a lot of people back in the US might assume she is the one singing it (given she has released her own singles in English).
But the actress shared a little trivia about how Bollywood songs have playback singers who sing, while the actor lip-syncs. With Tinka Tinka, it was Alisha Chinai who sang the song, and PC thanked her saying, “For those who might not know, Hindi films use playback singers for most actors and I’ve had the fortune to have some amazing singers lend their voice to my films over the years. But when this song was released, most thought it was me…But in fact it was the voice of one of my favorite singers @alishachinaiofficial… she complimented my tone so well. Thank you Alisha!”
