Prodution house Abundantia Entertainment recently announced a multi-platform content alliance with USA’s production house, Crypt TV. Now, this is Crypt’s first ever venture outside the USA and to mark their first production together, they are set to back the Hindi remake of the hit Marathi horror film, Lapachhapi (translated as ‘Hide and Seek’). Titled Chhori, the film will star actress Nushrat Bharucha in the lead role.

Vishal Furia, who directed the original, is set to helm the Hindi remake too. He is also known for directing some great web series like Criminal Justice and Bombers. The work on the script is currently underway and Vishal Kapoor, who also wrote the original, is writing the script for Chhori.

Lapachhapi addressed age-old societal beliefs and practices in our country that give rise to tales of pure terror. The film’s unique blend of horror and social commentary made it a thrilling as well as a thought-provoking ride.

Nushrat, who is super thrilled to be a part of the project, says:

I am extremely excited to be a part of Chhori. This genre excites me and the fact that the story is anchored in practices of our society, makes it relatable and impactful. I have wanted to work with Vishal Furia and I am so glad we’ve finally collaborated on Chhori, which is so close to his heart. I am looking forward to beginning my experience with each one of them.

Producer Vikram Malhotra of Abundantia Entertainment adds that he is confident that their collaboration with Crypt TV is going to be a stepping stone to creating irresistibly scary content under their latest vertical ‘Psych’.

Jack Davis adds, Co-Founder and CEO – Crypt TV, says, “I am ecstatic to partner with Abundantia and Vikram on this film. When I first saw it in Mumbai with Vikram, I was blown away and instantly knew it could lead the way in elevating the horror genre in India.”

Director Vishal Furia adds that it is great to revisit his film again and believes that he wants to take the remake a few steps further and “make a much more impactful, scary and thrilling film”. Talking about Nushrat, he says that she is a promising actor and is glad he finally got the chance to work with her in this film.

We are equally excited for this film and can’t wait to see the amazing Nushrat explore this new genre!
