5 Times Sonam Kapoor Ahuja Aced Indo-Western Clothing

Sakshi Kore

Apart from her excellent acting chops and brilliant choice of scripts, Sonam Kapoor Ahuja is also looked up for her dynamic fashion sense. Whether she’s out to a personal function, film promotions or attending red carpet events, she always sets the fashion bar high. No matter what the silhouette, colour, trend and occasion, the actress’ charisma and style make it to the headlines more often than not. That being said, Bollywood’s sartorial queen is a pro at mixing two or more styles effortlessly. And that stretches to her ethnic wardrobe as well.

Taking a virtual peek inside her traditional repertoire, you’ll see that she often elevates her ethnic outfits with western elements. Sometimes, she tweaks the 6-yard into a palazzo style and sometimes leaves it to her blazers to up the ante. But all in all, most of her ethnic looks are quirky, head-turning and anything but boring.

Here are 5 of our favourite Indo-western looks that Sonam sported:

1. Trench coat over an Anarkali

Swirling out and about on the street s of London, Sonam donned a gorgeous anarkali set by Sabyasachi. She notched it up by cinching the outfit with the classic Sabyasachi monogrammed belt. And added a western spin by throwing on a black trench coat.

2. Bandhgala saree

For one of the promotional rounds of her movie The Zoya Factor, Sonam wore an unconventional Bandhgala-saree by Raghavendra Rathore. This all-red look gives an illusion of a gown from the front but also features a pallu. Talk about revamping a saree and how!

3. Kurta set and a blazer

Don’t you absolutely love the fine balance of this outfit between risqué, bossy and elegant? Although the deep, plunging neckline is bold given the ethnic look, the addition of the blazer adds a boss-lady vibe to her otherwise sensuous outfit.

4. Saree with a jacket

Dressed head-to-toe in Anamika Khanna, Sonam chose to team this gorgeous white saree with a structured jacket. And better yet, plugged in the boho vibe to her Indo-western outfit via her tasselled overcoat!

5. Palazzo saree over a shirt-blouse

Wearing a piece from the brand she co-founded, Rheson, Sonam gave her stamp of approval for easy-to-wear sarees. Prioritising comfort by incorporating the palazzo and adding an offbeat look via the cropped shirt—this would definitely be one of my picks for the summers!

I love all of these looks and can’t seem to pick a favourite one! Which one do you like the most? Tell us in the comments below!
