It’s always a treat to listen to celebrities and successful personalities talk about how they landed their first ever break! Recently, Raveena Tandon opened up about how she landed her first film, Patthar Ke Phool, opposite Salman Khan in 1991. Raveena was recently on Kiran Joneja‘s online chat show when she spoke about how she didn’t really want to become an actor, and that this was her destiny.

Raveena shares that in her college days, she worked with ace ad film director, Prahlad Kakkar. She had done a few modelling projects with him and his company, Genesis. She adds that people always asked her why she wasn’t in-front of the camera and would turn to her when a model wouldn’t show up and say, ‘Hey, Raveena ko costume pehna ke khada kar do (Put Raveena in a costume and make her stand there)!’

It was during one such shoot that she says she met Salman. She recalls that her friend Bunty called her to catch up as he was in the neighbourhood where she was working. Salman was also with him then. He was looking for “a new girl” for his next film and one of his friends had suggested Raveena’s name. Well, he obviously thought she was the perfect fit because she bagged the role in Patthar Ke Phool. Raveena says that her friends were more excited than she was because Salman was a heartthrob then and had a lot of female fan following.

This pair was an instant hit among the fans and they went on to do films like the superhit, Andaz Apna Apna and Kahin Pyaar Na Ho Jaaye.
