Suruchi Patwary

Garlic is a blessing in disguise for us humans! It adds so much flavour to the food—you measure the quantity by your heart. But as much as we love garlic, it’s obvious that you can’t use it in every food item you prepare. And a lot of times when you chop a vegetable on your cutting board that you previously used for chopping or mincing some garlic, it leaves a hint of garlic taste onto your vegetable. Also, that pungent smell is so hard to get rid off your board. However, we came across a few different ways you can say bye-bye to the smell and taste of garlic from your chopping boards. Scroll down to check them all out!

1. Baking Soda

An easy way to clean your board is by using a paste made of baking soda and water. Use three parts of baking soda to one part of water to prepare the paste and use it to scrub the chopping board. And voila, it’s garlic-free!

2. Lemon

Okay, this one’s a bit tricky. Mix some lemon juice and salt together and use it to scrub the board. This will help in taking off the garlic smell and taste from it but could leave a lemony scent instead. So, you gotta decide if you want the lemon scent or garlic scent.

3. Apple/Potato

Rubbing a sliced potato or apple on the board can also get rid of the garlic odour. The logic behind this is that foods that brown after being cut usually can get rid of bad breath, and so, there’s a good possibility for it to get rid of bad smell on a surface as well.

4. Glass Board
