Abhishek Bachchan completes 20 years in the film industry. Time surely seems to have flown by, but he has given us some memorable performances in these two decades. In his Instagram, he has started a series called #RoadTo20, where he documents his journey in each of his landmark projects. From his debut in 2000 with Refugee, to Manmarziyaan in 2018, he speaks about his experience working on each film and shares some lovely anecdotes about it.

Now, he is ready to set foot into OTT entertainment with the Amazon Original series, Breathe. While I am super excited for that, here are 5 of his most loved performances that prove he is one of the most under-rated and talented actors we have today.

Looking back at his films, here are 5 of his most memorable roles over two decades:

1. Lallan in Yuva

How can we forget the rugged, abusive Lallan from Mani Ratnam‘s 2004 drama, Yuva! Abhishek had moulded himself into the greedy and impulsive personality so well and stood out in this multi-starrer political drama. It is also one of his most critically acclaimed performances till date, and rightly so!

2.Rakesh/Bunty in Bunty Aur Babli

One of the highest-grossing films of 2005, Bunty Aur Babli honestly was one of my most favourite films growing up! Just the super entertaining story, the sizzling chemistry between Abhishek and Rani Mukerji, and the songs won over all our hearts! Abhishek’s conman act in the film was done so well, that you get to see the layers in his character which makes you root for him.

3. ACP Jay Dixit in Dhoom Series

Who doesn’t love the Dhoom series, amirite? This iconic series since 2004 has redefined action thrillers for us in Bollywood and Abhishek as the very sharp and no-nonsense cop, ACP Jay Dixit, has been a part of it since the beginning. The one who is always on the hunt for the bad guy, his role changed the way relationships between the cop and the bad guy was generally perceived and that’s why people keep going back to this franchise!

4. Guru Bhai in Guru

Abhishek teamed up with Mani Ratnam for the second time in Guru, which went on to become AB Jr’s highest-grossing films till date. The rag to riches story saw Bachchan portray Gurukant Desai, who through all the stages in his life — from a young and ambitious dreamer to an ageing and ailing billionaire. The actor beautifully owned the role and the film and was widely appreciated for his performance. Also, I loved his sweet chemistry with his now-wife, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan in the film!

5. Robbie in Manmarziyaan

Anurag Kashyap’s film about a love triangle showed us how Abhishek can be ever so subtle in his act and deliver a powerful performance. He played Robbie with such empathy and kindness, and was a guy every girl’s family would want for their daughter.

Honestly, it isn’t easy playing both the good guy and the moody guy so well, and Abhishek does it best! Which is your most favourite film of his? Let us know. Congrats on 20 years, Abhishek, can’t wait for all that’s in store for us in the coming times!
