Anushka Sharma has come a long way in her Bollywood journey since debuting opposite Shah Rukh Khan in her first film. Now she is not only known for her acting career but also as a producer and owner of a fashion brand Nush. After a decade in the industry, Anushka’s journey has been one worth following. She is a bona fide star who has made some memorable style choices over the years.

Anushka’s sense of fashion has been fuss-free from the very beginning. Initially, as a fresh newcomer, her outfits might have been simpler, but she still rocked them nevertheless. While she has a penchant for comfortable outfits that are effortless yet stylish, she easily rocks more glamourous outfits just as well. Her fashion choices regardless of trends show her to be a fan of clean lines, classic tailoring and minimalism. But the best takeaway from Anushka’s overall sense of style is the confidence and authenticity that she exudes naturally. She allows her personality to shine through in what she wears and is completely unapologetic about it.

Thanks to Anushka’s stylist and a team of professionals, her ensembles are always on point and trendy whether its fashionable airport looks, ethnic wear or red carpet elegance. Never in excess, we have seen a big change from the fresh-faced young girl to the glamourous woman she is today, whose style most girls relate to and many wish to emulate.

Keep scrolling to take a look at Anushka’s style evolution from then to now:

2009

A very young Anushka looked super cute in this blue number at her very first IIFA Awards in 2009. With her slender figure and stunning features, she could make even a potato sack look good. However, while the colour looks great on her, the gown’s cut plus the ruffled top makes it look like two different dresses and not very flattering overall.

2010

Early on in her career, Anushka was the embodiment of the girl-next-door vibez. While she won us over with her smile and sparkling personality, her initial style was very basic and subdued.

2012

For the Jab Tak Hain Jaan press conference, Anushka kept it clean and simple in a silk gold blouse, black jeans and matching ballet flats. While the side-swept ponytail frames her face beautifully, the outfit overall doesn’t flatter her figure very much and this specific shade of gold is not the best colour on her.

2013

Anushka was nominated for the Best Actor in a Supporting Role category for her performance in Jab Tak Hain Jaan in 2013. She paired this underwhelming look with suede heels for the Filmfare Nomination party. While the understated outfit with sequins fit in just fine with the trends that year, the makeup did her gorgeous face no favours, making her look washed out under the harsh lights.

2014

This year really seemed to be a turning point in Anushka’s fashion style. She impressed us all in this wonderfully fresh and elegant blue Burberry number at the front row of London Fashion Week. The side slit really adds some sexiness to the otherwise more clean-cut dress. This ended up being one of her best looks for the year.

2015

The 2015 Vogue Beauty Awards were the highlight of the year. Anushka and Virat Kholi made their public debut as a couple for the first time on the red carpet. Anushka looked like a dream in this pastel, yellow gown by Gauri & Nainika. Her fresh face of makeup and romantic, wispy bun paired perfectly with her dreamy dress on the special occasion where she won the Beauty Of The Year award.

2016

Anushka really upped the ante and wowed us with this sexy Shehla Khan ensemble at the Lux Golden Rose Awards 2016. She looked flawless in this very feminine two-piece ensemble with a side-slit that gave us a glimpse of her fabulous model-like legs.

2017

Talk about iconic moments! Anushka Sharma and Virat Kholi tied the knot in 2017 and she knocked it out of the park. Her soft, baby pink, Sabyasachi lehenga, was the envy of women everywhere. The beautifully intricate lehenga and the matching jewellery perfectly flattered Anushka’s personality. This look was trending everywhere on social media and led the motion for brides experimenting with more unconventional colours for their special day. It’s an iconic look, that is still a popular choice hung up on our Pinterest boards for wedding inspo.

2018

This was the year Anushka gave us one fabulous look after another that it was tough to narrow it down to one stunner. She looked gorgeous in some amazing ethnic wear and equally dazzling in beautiful gowns. But the one really fun piece that stood out was this pink sequin cocktail number from Temperley London. Paired with some chic, white, strappy heels for the trailer launch of Zero this dress was a glittery dream. Keeping her accessories little to none and a high pony, she let the dress do the talking here. Pink really seems to be one of the best colours on her!

2019

In these last three years, Anushka has really raised the bar with all her fashion choices. From her airport looks, of which we could do a whole separate post on, to her glam red-carpet looks and even streetwear. However, my personal favourite of 2019 was this divine white gown by Hila & Kristian Aadnevik. I mean Wowza!  I had never seen her look so sexy before, she almost looked a fairy. This beautiful, sheer gown with lace details fit her like a glove and highlighted her curves in the right places. A jaw-dropping statement piece for sure!

2020

Anushka Sharma has come a long way from dressing like the girl-next-door to a star who’s become a fashion icon in her own right, always at ease and exuding confidence in her looks. While her sense of style and fashion has been refined over the last few years, she still remains true to herself. A woman who appreciates the finer details in each outfit without going over the top. And while there’s still plenty of 2020 left to go, we had to pick our favourite outfit of hers from before the lockdown. This lovely mermaid style, soft cream, sequin dress from Tanieya Khanuja is understated yet captivating. It’s an elegant look from head to toe that encapsulates Anushka’s entire style along with her dewy makeup and low ponytail.
