After almost three months of a complete lockdown, television shows are slowly restarting shoot and actors are getting back to work on sets. While it has been green-lit by the Government of Maharashtra and there are many rules and regulations in place, a lot of people are still unsure about stepping out and restarting work. Avneet Kaur, of the ‘Alladin: Naam Toh Suna Hoga‘ fame, is one such actor. According to a report by Times of India, she has now decided to quit the show amidst the fear of the pandemic. She has been replaced by Ashi Singh.

Ashi has previously starred in the show, Yeh Un Dinon Ki Baat Hain, and is popular as her character Naina. She will now take on the role of Yasmine in Alladin: Naam Toh Suna Hoga opposite Siddharth Nigam.

Speaking to the publication about bagging the role, Ashi says that she is an artiste who strives to essay varied roles and that her character Yasmine is unlike her previous role as Naina. She says that the fantasy genre is also something that excited her to take this up. Ashi will have to perform action sequences for the serial and it will be a challenge she needs to live up to, and she says she will do her best to play the part convincingly.

Coming to Avneet, Ashi spoke about how she doesn’t think of this as ‘replacing’ anyone and says that she is grateful for the three month break. Now, audiences will have to reconnect with all their favourite shows, and hence will find it easier to accept a new face.

Avneet spoke to the publication about her decision to quit, saying that health always comes first for her. The actress says that last year, she suffered from Dengue. But she got back to work post that while also preparing for her board exams. She says that all that stress and loss of immunity has made her very weak now. Given the coronavirus is especially dangerous for the immuno-compromised, she is in the high risk category of people. Avneet says that both she and her parents thought it was best for her to quit the show in such circumstances.

We will surely miss her on the show, but we’re also excited to see how Ashi takes on the role and makes it her own!
