On Wednesday the whole country celebrated National Doctor’s Day. This day is commemorated to honour doctors for their sacrifices and relentless work. Rising to the occasion, Bollywood star couple, Riteish Deshmukh and Genelia D’Souza have pledged to donate their organs. The star couple took to their Instagram to share the noble decision through a video.
In the video, the duo is seen speaking about how they have been thinking about donating their organs and how they feel ‘the gift of life is the greatest gift’.
Genelia’s caption read, @riteishd and I have been thinking about it for a long time but unfortunately didn’t get down to doing it. Today on Doctor’s Day we pledge to donate our organs. We want to thank Dr Nozer Sherier and FOGSI for inspiring us. The greatest gift you can give someone is ‘The gift of life’. We urge you all to take a part in this initiate and pledge to save lives, pledge to donate your organs.”

For the unversed, National Doctor’s Day is celebrated in remembrance of the internationally acclaimed medical practitioner, Dr Bidhan Chandra Roy. He served as a physician, a freedom fighter, an educationist and a well-known politician. He was born on July 1, 1882, and died on the same date at the age of 80 in the year 1962.
