Veteran Bollywood choreographer, Saroj Khan, passed away this morning due to a cardiac arrest. She was admitted to Guru Nanak Hospital on June 20, when she complained of breathlessness.

A mandatory COVID-19 test was run on her, and she tested negative. A source close to the family also told that she was doing better and might be discharged from the hospital soon. But on Friday morning, today, she suffered a cardiac arrest after her conditioned worsened in the ICU.

Saroj Khan’s nephew, Manish Jagwani told PTI, “She passed away due to cardiac arrest at around 2:30 am at the hospital.”

Saroj Khan revolutionised Bollywood dance in her career spanning more than 4 decades. She created magic with her grace and her command over her craft. From Mr. India, Tezaab, to Kalank, she has choreographed more than 2000 songs in her career. Being one of the first women choreographers in the industry, she surely was an inspiration to so many who came after. This really is the end of an era, and we will always remember her for all the iconic numbers she has given us.

Saroj Ji‘s last rites will be performed at Malvani in Malad on Friday. May her soul rest in peace.
