Veteran actor Syed Ishtiaq Ahmed Jafri aka Jagdeep who was popular for his role as ‘Soorma Bhopali’ in Sholay passed away this evening. He was 81 years old and was ill for a while now.
He began his career as a child artist in theatre and later went on to star in over 400+ films in a span of over 7 decades. In 2019, he was awarded by IIFA for his outstanding contribution to Indian cinema. His comic timing was impeccable and so was his screen presence. Some of his noteworthy work includes in films like Qurbani, Bidaai, Aaina, Shahenshah, Phool Aur Kaante, Andaaz Apna Apna, and Naagin.
The industry won’t be the same without him ever again. It surely feels like an end of an era May his soul rest in peace.
