In June, director Sanjay Gupta had informed MidDay that he scheduled to film the last leg of John Abraham and Emraan Hashmi-starrer Mumbai Saga from July 15 at Ramoji Film City in Hyderabad. The director had also picked out a crew of 30 members including the lead actors for the shoot. However, with the rising number of coronavirus cases in most of the cities in the past month, the director has decided to call off the Hyderabad stint.

Sanjay Gupta revealed to the publication, that he came to this decision after a discussion with his co-producers and leading men during his one-week trip to Mumbai.

Speaking to the MidDay he said—

The country recorded 30,000 cases in a single day. Moreover, the World Health Organisation’s [WHO] statement about the possibility of the virus being airborne was alarming. It stated that the virus can remain in the air in crowded closed spaces. Of the 14-day shoot that I had planned, we were to film at three indoor sets for 10 days. That would have posed a risk. We wanted to shoot in Hyderabad, but now it’s as unsafe as Mumbai. So, we might as well do it in our city.

Now, the filmmaker wishes to get back to the universe of the crime saga by August 15 but also admits that the dates can be pushed further.

Jointly produced by T-series and White Feather Films, Mumbai Saga will also feature Jackie Shroff, Suniel Shetty, Prateik Babbar, Gulshan Grover among others.
