The demand for a CBI investigation in connection with the sudden demise of actor Sushant Singh Rajput is growing day by day. However, the strong social media campaigns and tweets by prominent personalities have not been able to change the Maharashtra government’s mind. Home Minister, Anil Deshmukh said that the case doesn’t require a CBI investigation. In his recent interview with Mid-Day, he said that the Mumbai Police is capable enough to handle such cases, therefore, no request in the late actor’s case is being taken into consideration.

Anil Deshmukh was quoted saying—

I have the tweets and the campaign. But I don’t think that a CBI probe is required. The Mumbai Police is competent enough to handle such cases and they are investigating every aspect of the case including professional rivalry. As of now, we do not see any foul play. Details of the investigation will be shared once it is completed.

Actors Shekhar Suman, Roopa Ganguly, BJP MP Subramanian Swamy, along with many others have been demanding for a CBI investigation in the case. On Thursday, Sushant’s girlfriend and actor Rhea Chakraborty too took to her Instagram to request Union Minister, Amit Shah to initiate a CBI probe. Her post read–

Respected @AmitShah sir, I’m Sushant Singh Rajput’s girlfriend Rhea Chakraborty. It has been over a month since his sudden demise. I have complete faith in the government. However, in the interest of justice, I request you with folded hands to initiate a CBI inquiry into this matter. I only want to understand what pressures prompted Sushant to take this step. Yours sincerely #satyamevajayat.

Meanwhile, the Mumbaai Police continues to record more statements in the late actor’s case. Talking to the publication, an officer said— “We are not waiting for forensic reports to get more clarity. Our investigation continues to look into the professional rivalry angle.
