A lot of speculations still surround Sushant Singh Rajput‘s untimely death. While many blame Bollywood biggies like Karan Johar and Aditya Chopra, star kids like Alia Bhatt, Sonam Kapoor, many others have resorted to convoluted theories born on social media. But one of the standing questions surrounding Sushant has been his relationship with Yash Raj Films and the studio’s famous three-film deal. One of the main reasons touted for Sushant’s long-standing frustration was stated to be a film with Shekar Kapur called Paani that kept being put off. Due to this, he had to say no to many a project including many that were offered by Sanjay Leela Bhansali. But in a live chat, Shekar Kapur clearly stated that Aditya Chopra didn’t allow him to make Paani with Sushant.

But now those close to Aditya seem to be counter questioning Shekar Kapur for his statement. Those close to YRF’s owner says that the reason Aditya Chopra refused Sushant to work on Paani wasn’t that he had anything personal against the actor. A report in Bollywood Hungama suggested that even after a year of prep, Shekar Kapur hadn’t shown Aditya a script. Allegedly on the other hand the budget and numbers shown by Shekar for Paani were way beyond what was originally discussed. This is when Aditya said, “We cannot make this film with Sushant at the budget that you are showing. For that kind of money, we  need Shah Rukh Khan.” The source said that the budget show was not practical for a Sushant starrer.
