After almost 4 months in lockdown, the restrictions on movement and usual business is slowly coming back to normal in phases. One of the few actors who stepped out for work during this time has been Akshay Kumar. The Khiladi Kumar stepped out to shoot a coronavirus awareness ad for the government. And now, he is all set to resume shoot for his films, too. Of course, with all the necessary precautions and safety protocols in place.

In an interview with Hindustan Times, the actor opened up about resuming work on his upcoming films — Bell Bottom and Atrangi Re. He is all set to fly to the UK this month for Bell Bottom’s shoot, with the cast and crew consisting of Vaani Kapoor, Lara Dutta and Huma Qureshi among others. In October, he will shoot for Aanand L Rai‘s Atrangi Re alongside Sara Ali Khan and Dhanush. When asked about whether he ever felt afraid about stepping out during these times, Akshay said he sure was.

But he goes on to say:

For how long can you live in fear? Initially, when the pandemic started, very little was known about the virus – the way it affects a person. So, there was a lot of fear. Now, with time, we know more and also that it’s possible to beat it if we’ve a good immune system. Hence, I decided to get back to work taking all the precautions, not just for me but the entire unit.

Talking about being back on set after so long, Akshay adds:

I, for one, was itching to get back to work as soon as it was permitted, and possible. I don’t think I’ve stayed away from the camera for so long and now, there’s a newfound excitement to be back on set.

On Rakhi yesterday, Akshay also announced his next film titled Raksha Bandhan, dedicated to his sister Alka Hiranandani. He is getting her to debut as a producer with this film and he says he couldn’t have gotten her a better Rakshabandhan gift as “it will be there forever on celluloid“.

I am super excited for that film and I sure cannot wait to watch Akshay back on screen very soon!
