Naomi Scott who came into highlight with her portrayal as Princess Jasmine in Disney’s Aladdin is all set to star in Amblin‘s Distant. According to the reports, the actor will be seen sharing the screen with Anthony Ramos in the sci-fi film. Directed by Will Speck and Josh Gordon, Distant is written by Spenser Cohen.

Distant is a sci-fi film that narrates the story of an asteroid miner who crash-lands on an alien planet. The film explores the difficulties faced by the miner in these circumstances. The asteroid miner makes an effort to pave his way across the severe terrain to reach the only other survivor, who is a woman trapped in her escape pod. The character of the asteroid miner will be likely to be played by Anthony Ramos while Naomi Scott will portray the trapped woman.

The comedy-adventure film will be jointly produced by Brian Kavanaugh-Jones, Fred Berger and Anna Halberg. Filmmaker Speck and Gordon will also serve as executive producers, along with Jonathan Rothbart and Matt Hirsch. The studio will be supervised by Jeb Brody who is Amblin Partner’s President of Production, and John Buderwitz, Creative Executive.

Naomi made her debut with ‘The 33′ in 2015 which was helmed by Patricia Riggen. Later, she went on to star in 2017’s Power Rangers where she played the Pink Ranger. Apart from Aladdin, the actor also featured in Charlie’s Angel reboot. The film also starred Kristen Stewart, Ella Balinska and Elizabeth Banks in pivotal roles.
