Fun fact: The oldest board games were found in Ancient Egyptian ruins, primarily one called Senet. It was so popular amongst pharaohs that many Ancient Egyptian tombs also have illustrations of the game. But games have been around even before language, the first being dice! Yup, dice. Multiple carved and painted stones were found in Turkey a burial ground from 5000 BC. Wild, right?
Anyway, board games have been popular since, and have seen quite an upswing in recent years with adults discovering and rediscovering their magic the world over. Especially now, during this past few months of lockdown, families have gone back to basics being faced with the idea of spending so much more time with their loved ones. And here at MissMalini Entertainment, we have the queen of board games, Malini Agarwal herself. So I decided to ask her to list out her all-time favourite games for our benefit. Here they are:
1. Guesstures
Who doesn’t love charades? But this is like charades on crack because you only get a few seconds to guess the word before the Mimer-Timer chews up the card and you’re done. You can buy it here.

The baap of all strategy games, Risk is all about conquests, forming alliances and taking over the world. You can buy it here.
3. Sequence
A deck of cards and a board game had a baby and Sequence was born. This game is highly addictive. You can buy it here.
4. Boxers & Briefs
This is another party game that’ll have you laughing, sharing and generally having a good old’ time. Fun fact: The most talkative player is supposed to start. You can buy it here.
5. Telestrations
Like Pictionary, this game tests your drawing skills. You have to draw the word and make others guess. Straight up fun! You can buy it here.
6. Scrabble
Old school is the best school. Scrabble tests your vocabulary and your friendships. So be warned. You can buy it here.
7. Guess Who?
This game is so much fun because it’s like a game of 20 questions where you have to guess the other person’s character through a process of elimination. It’s great for kids and adults alike, so yay. You can buy it here.
8. Taboo
Taboo is a classic game that is fun but can also get heated. You have to simply get your teammates to guess the words on the top of the card without mentioning any of the related words that are listed. You can buy it here.
9. Partini
This is a group party game in which the goal is to collect coasters by doing the task that is listed on those coasters. You can only imagine the madness that can ensue. You can buy it here.
10. Dixit
Dixit tests how accurately you can describe something and whether other people can guess what you describe from your verbal description. You can buy it here.
11. Clue
If you fancy yourself an ace detective, Clue is the game for you. Mystery, intrigue and obviously crime, this game is great fun. You can buy it here.
