Yami Gautam who was last seen on-screen opposite Ayushmann Khurrana in Bala has been in the news for endorsing Fair & Lovely. Yami’s greatest success came in 2019 when she appeared in military-action, thriller film Uri: The Surgical Strike, alongside Vicky Kaushal. This year she will be doing a film called Ginny Weds Sunny opposite Vikrant Massey directed by debutant Puneet Khanna.

On the cover, Yami wears a silk, brocade trench coat by Suket Dhir. The powder blue, floral jacket is paired with diamond studs from Her Story Jewels. The shoot lensed by Sushant Chhabria sets the tone of this happy shoot with this particular shot. Stylist, Divyak D’souza does justice to their Kindness Issue with his exploration of light but bright colours and use of prints. In her conversation with Elle India, she talks about how important it is to be true to oneself. Her most important learning during lockdown is that humans only need family, food, shelter and clothes to survive. And that everything else is secondary. The actress leaves us with her views on kindness below.

Kindness is compassion. Kindness is a way of life, it’s a part of your value system. It took a pandemic for a lot of people to realise what value kindness and compassion holds. I hope that once we get back to our regular lives, we don’t forget the values this time has re-inculcated in everybody.

Yami Gautam on the August cover of Elle India

Look 1:

Yami Gautam was seen wearing a pleated, mango-yellow dress from Payal Khandwala, for her first look. The dress is very typical to the designer’s creations and easily identifiable as part of her brand. The beautiful, flowy dress featured an asymmetric hemline, almost like that of a flower petal. Divyak accessorised her look with a pair of nude slides from Burloe Shoes. They opted for colourful stacked, wooden cuffs from Lai and a pair of statement, gold stud earrings from Bhavya Ramesh. This outfit is ridding me of my monsoon blues because of how poppy and outdoorsy it looks.

Hair artist, Mike Desir made her hair look wispy and billowy, whilst her makeup by Akgun Manisali was quite sunkissed and natural. Nude lipstick with strong brows really works well with this bright and powerful number.

Look 2:

In this look, Yami wears a Rajdeep Ranawat co-ord set. The print is inspired by Indonesian motifs and the jacket features a deep, plunging neckline with pockets and an interesting lapel detail. Her look was further accessorised with a statement, silver cuff and ring from Her Story jewellery. The makeup seems to have stayed the same while the hair is looking a little more beachy in this one.

This outfit serves for the perfect resort-wear look and can be worn to lunch and dinner all the same.

Look 3:

This moody, black and white photo truly reflects the current energies in our lives. I love how the mood of the shoot is so summery and fun and then shifts to a beautiful, dark representation of fashion. Yami is seen wearing a sheer, lace dress from Lovebirds Studio. It features a high, round neck with ¾th sleeves, pleating detail on the right side and pintucks down the centre of the dress. She wears black, high-waist knickers and a crop-top inside the dress. Her look is only accessorised with statement, asymmetrical diamond earrings from Narayan Jewellers.
