Love has its ways of finding you, and in people you least expect. And you know what they say about how sometimes, two people who detest each other go on to discover a love between them that’s so intense and passionate? Yeah, that’s pretty much what ALTBalaji’s latest web series, Bebaakee talks about — a love that’s so different, and ‘Bebaak‘ a.k.a fearless.
Set amidst the picturesque hills of Shimla, two best friends, top media and news moguls, run a news house called United India. They are more like brothers and stay in the same house with their respective families. Their sons, too, are the best of friends and always have each others’ backs. The eldest of them, Sufiyaan Abdullah (Kushal Tandon) is a straight-faced guy, who has his own insecurities and reservations about love because of his strained relationship with his father. As the show progresses, we realise that he might just have a whole lot of emotion hidden beneath all that tough exterior. He is all set to take their company forward by launching their digital news publication. That’s when he locks horns with an up-and-coming, young and feisty journalist, Kainaat Sahni (Shivjyoti Rajput). They start off on the wrong foot and end up detesting each other.
Sufiyaan’s best friend and his uncle’s son, Imtiaz (Karan Jotwani) returns from Africa at the same time to take over the company and falls for Kainaat, even offering her a job at his company. This is where Kainaat spends more time with Imtiaz, while learning more about Sufiyaan as well. So in the end, we are left with a love triangle that they, as well as us, are torn between. A romantic drama on family, betrayal, longing and love is what follows!

Also, the absolutely lavish and opulent sets and locations this show has been shot in deserves a mention. I mean, having a line of waiters waiting to serve you your morning tea is the dream, amirite?
The series has an ensemble cast consisting of Pratik Sehajpal, Ishaan Dhawan, Mahir Pandhi, Saloni Vora, Aditi Vats, and Juhaina Ahsan as well as senior actors like Krutika Desai, Suchitra Pillai, Ananya Khare, Mohit Chauhan, Sameer Malhotra, and Indraneel Bhattacharya. Mohit Chauhan and Sameer Malhotra as the elderly close friends and the absolute diva, Suchitra Pillai, are great on-screen and keep this romantic, family-drama interesting and layered. The lead trio of the show bring the complexities of their characters to life. Shivjyoti, who debuted with the series, makes a good impression with her act.
The music of this show is one you find yourself humming to, long after you’ve watched it. The Bebaakee title track really sets the mood of the show.
